About Us

The Peoria County Genealogical Society is a volunteer organization whose purpose it is to preserve, perpetuate, and replicate the records of our Peoria County Illinois ancestors.

The Board of Directors is comprised of officers and directors who are elected by the membership by ballot in May of each year, as well as several presidential appointees. Many opportunities exist for member involvement including special events, projects, and leadership positions.

Monthly meetings take place at the Peoria Public Library’s North Branch, the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM. (No meetings are held in December, January, February.)

The Society’s records and collections are located at the Peoria Public Library’s downtown library at 107 NE Monroe Street in Peoria, IL. The Genealogy/Local History Section is located at the Lower level 1 and is open during regular library hours.
